Water on the Floor. Do These Ten Things.

This is the page to read on your phone standing in it. Ten steps, in order. Most of them cost nothing and every one of them protects the insurance claim that pays for the rest.

The Facts

Flooded: First Hour

Right Now

  • Kill power to anything standing in water. Breakers, not switches.
  • Stop the source if you can see it: supply valve, ice machine or water heater shutoff, or the main.
  • Move product and paper up off the floor. Anything cardboard is already lost.
  • Keep people out of the wet area. Wet tile and a live outlet is how a bad day becomes a worse one.

Before Anyone Cleans

  • Photos and a video walk-through first, before mopping. Wide shots of each room, close-ups of the source, the water line on the wall, the ceiling.
  • Note the time you found it and the last time the area was dry. That is the date of loss.
  • Do not throw anything away yet. Wet ceiling tiles and base are evidence.
  • Do not run the HVAC fan on high to dry it out. It spreads moisture into the ductwork and the next room.

Two Calls

  • Your insurance agent, for a claim number and your water deductible. The agent knows the deductible in five minutes; the manager almost never does.
  • Us, at 601-337-1069, with the photos. We stop the source if it is equipment, extract, and set drying equipment the same visit.
  • You do not need the claim number to start. You need it before rental equipment is ordered.

What Happens When We Arrive

The first thirty minutes on site is the claim file: cause of loss, category of water, what is wet and how wet, moisture readings against a dry reference, photos of every reading and every piece of equipment placed. We then stop the source, extract standing water, remove what cannot be dried, treat with antimicrobial, and set dehumidifiers and air movers. You sign a work authorization with our posted rate schedule attached before the first unit is plugged in.

Our rates are published, dated, and versioned on the water damage page. That matters to your carrier: a rate that was public before the loss cannot be called a post-loss markup.

What It Costs You

On a covered commercial loss, your cost is the deductible and anything the policy excludes. We bill the carrier against your claim number at the posted schedule. We do not take assignment of benefits, so the claim stays yours.

One honest filter: if your deductible is near or above what the drying job will cost, especially a percentage deductible after a named storm, it is a self-pay job. We tell you that before the first unit goes in, quote it off the same schedule, and let you decide.

What We Do Not Do

Mold remediation beyond drying and antimicrobial treatment is referred out. Roof repair is referred to a roofer, though we find and document the leak. Residential water losses are not our line; we work commercial accounts and the properties they own.

Common Questions

Flooded: First Hour FAQ

Should I call you or my insurance first?

Kill the power and stop the source first. Then call whichever picks up. We can start extraction and drying without a claim number; we just need it before rental equipment is ordered.

How fast can you get here?

Water losses jump the line. Text photos to 601-337-1069 with the address and we give you a real ETA. We are local, and after a named storm existing accounts are served first.

Can I just run fans and dry it myself?

For a small clean-water spill on tile, maybe. For anything into drywall, base, insulation, or ceiling, no. Materials that read wet three days later become a mold claim, and by then the water claim is harder to prove.

Do you work with my adjuster?

Yes. The adjuster gets a documentation package: photos, moisture map, daily readings, equipment log with serials and hour meters, and the drying report. Most invoice disputes are about proof, and we bring the proof.
